European Central Bank (ECB) base maker Francois Villeroy de Galhau rejected reserves that central banks would stop buying bills early.

Villeroy, who is also the chairman of France's central bank, rejected the recent, more hawkish, conversation of some of the ECB experts by suggesting that they could decide to reduce bill purchases as soon as possible.

Since the pandemic crisis last year, the ECB has launched a Pandemic Anxiety Bon Purchase Program (PEPP) worth € 1.85 trillion up to March 2022, to stimulate loans and promote economic recovery.

He also characterized the conversation as mere speculation, and said the monetary base would remain accommodative even though the PEPP program would be deducted.

Last month, ECB President Christine Lagarde also dismissed the speculation and said that it was too early to start talking about reducing PEPPP as the coronavirus pandemic continues to pose serious risks to the economic outlook.

The reality of Villeroy however failed to impress the euro currency trading which continued to trade high amidst a weak US dollar.
