After fighting for 11 days, Palestine and Israel finally reached an agreement to conclude a ceasefire.

The ceasefire was implemented earlier today, ending a conflict that left more than 240 people dead, including about 65 children in Gaza.

As soon as the news of the ceasefire was reported, Palestinians flooded the streets around Gaza cheering happily.

Hamas fighters and the Zionist regime both claim to have won the conflict.

According to Hamas officials, the ceasefire announced by Israel marks a victory for the Palestinian people and a defeat for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But for Hamas International Relations Council representative Basem Naim said he was skeptical whether the ceasefire would last long.

"Without justice for the Palestinian people, without stopping Israeli atrocities against our people in Jerusalem, the ceasefire is seen as fragile," he explained.

Meanwhile, the President of the United States (US), Joe Biden described the ceasefire as a positive development.

He also praised Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi for being a 'middleman' in the Palestinian-Israeli ceasefire talks.

Earlier, Biden urged Netanyahu to end the conflict.

Yesterday, more than 100 airstrikes were launched by Israel aimed at Hamas infrastructure in northern Gaza. Hamas then retaliated against the attack.

Fighting in Gaza erupted on May 10 after tensions escalated for weeks in East Jerusalem, leading to clashes between the two sides.
