The President of the United States (US), Joe Biden began his first official foreign visit by warning Russia that the country will face appropriate action if it engages in ‘dangerous activities’.

Biden is scheduled to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Geneva after attending a meeting of G7 leaders and a Nato summit.

According to the White House, Biden will raise various issues with Putin including arms control, climate change, Russian military involvement in Ukraine, Russian cyber hacking activities and the detention of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.

Biden insisted he would deliver a clear message to Putin.

"We are not provoking a conflict with Russia. We want stable relations but I have explained, the US will act if the Russian government is involved in dangerous activities, "said Biden.

Relations between Washington and Moscow are strained over a number of issues.

Last April, Putin claimed that Western superpowers were trying to point fingers at Russia and warned them not to ‘go overboard’.

Biden had previously stated his intention to strengthen ties with U.S. allies, following strained relations during the rule of former President Donald Trump.

Biden arrived in the United Kingdom yesterday and will hold a meeting with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to sign a new ‘Atlantic Charter’ agreement.

The agreement is a modern version previously signed between former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and former US President Franklin Roosevelt in 1941.

The agreement focuses on various challenges including climate change and security issues.
