The i-Citra withdrawal was introduced following the announcement of the PEMULIH economic stimulus package by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on June 28, as a temporary relief measure to help EPF members cope with the economic impact of Covid-19.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) says every member under the age of 55 can apply for an i-Citra withdrawal from today, July 12, three days earlier than previously scheduled.

In an official statement, the EPF said: "Members must ensure that their mobile phone numbers match those in the EPF's records to receive a single -use password (OTP), in addition to having an active bank account to receive payments."

Eligible members are allowed to make a maximum withdrawal of RM5,000 and are subject to the total combined balance in both Accounts 1 and 2.

Looking at that aspect, the EPF says each approved withdrawal amount will be paid for a period of up to five months, with a fixed monthly payment of RM1,000, subject to a savings balance and a minimum of RM50.

Withdrawal applications can be made through the EPF's official portal and the first payment is expected to be credited into the member's bank account starting in August.
