In a statement, Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) will pledge to improve its corporate governance in protecting the interests of all its 8.3 million members.

TH also ensured that its day -to -day operations would continue to run as usual despite proposals to improve the quality of its management and operations as well as the establishment of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI).

The announcement on the establishment of the RCI under the Commission of Inquiry Act 1950 (Act 119) was agreed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on 14 July.

To date, the total deposits to the pilgrimage fund received is RM82 billion and is the highest since its inception in 1963.

Following that, TH felt it was an appreciation which reflected the community's growing trust in Tabung Haji.

Each planned implementation will be followed by a government guarantee on the savings prescribed under Section 24 of the Tabung Haji Act 1995.

Examining the existing capabilities including assets, liabilities and human resource expertise, these aspects have prompted TH to suggest that a more comprehensive study be conducted by the Prime Minister's Department, Ministry of Finance and BNM.

With a stronger, stable and integrity financial position as well as TH's reputation as an Islamic financial institution is an important aspect to ensure that the public remains confident in TH.
