 Bursa Malaysia opened higher in today's trading session in line with Wall Street's better overnight performance.


At 9.05am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) ‘rocketed’ 4.21 points to 1,520.73 from 1,526.52 at the close on Wednesday.


According to Bernama, the index traded 2.48 points higher at 1,519.0.


On the broader market, gainers outnumbered losers by 233 to 111, while 236 counters were unchanged. 1,664 were untraded and 26 others were suspended.


Turnover stood at 293.24 million units worth RM118.68 million.


Through Malacca Securities, the increase in daily Covid-19 cases recorded will encourage investors to be more focused on the healthcare sector.


Investors may also be looking forward to the Malaysian inflation rate data to be published tomorrow.


"In the local market, tech stocks showed an excellent performance on the Nasdaq yesterday ahead of the reporting season in the US," he added.



In addition, investors will also focus on stocks in the healthcare sector ahead of the reporting season on expectations of strong results amid a sharp increase in daily Covid-19 cases.


Domestically, heavyweights, IHH Healthcare rose four sen to RM5.78, Hong Leong Financial rose 20 sen to RM17.78 and TM declined three sen to RM5.99.


TNB and MISC added three sen each to RM9.74 and RM6.83, respectively, while Top Glove added two sen to RM4.18.


For active stocks, Pasukhas jumped one sen to 12 sen, Dagang NeXchange rose 1.5 sen to 76.5 sen, while CWG Holdings rose 15.5 sen to 62.5 sen and Sapura Energy rose half -a -sen to 13 sen.


In addition, Borneo Oil, Kanger International and Serba Dinamik were unchanged at three sen, 7.5 sen and 43 sen respectively.


On the index board, the FBM Gold Index gained 35.83 points to 11,139.17, the FBMT 100 Index strengthened 34.84 points to 10,841.01 and the FBM ACE rose 64.32 points to 7,367.19.


The FBM Emas Shariah Index jumped 39.49 points to 12,255.44 and the FBM 70 rose 65.89 points to 14,630.82.


By sector, the Financial Services Index rose 46.88 points to 14,841.12, the Industrial Products and Services Index rose 0.32 points to 188.67 and the Plantation Index added 10.24 points to 6,183.65.
