Solid! Sime Darby Collaborates With Porsche

 Sime Darby has entered into a partnership with Porsche AG to assemble sports cars exclusively for the Malaysian market only.


The assembly will be carried out at Sime Darby's motor vehicle and production facility which will be the German sports car manufacturer's first assembly plant outside Europe.


The production is expected to be scheduled to begin in 2022.


According to reports, Porsche had partnered with Inokom Corporation Sdn Bhd in February which is a subsidiary of Sime Darby Motors and is a subsidiary of Sime Darby to develop an assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah.



Sime Darby Bhd Group Chief Executive Officer and CEO, Datuk Jeffri Salim Davidson said Sime Darby had been entrusted to assemble the world's most admired sports car.


He added that the assembly portfolio is an important element in its growth strategy and Sime Darby is very pleased to further strengthen its relationship with Porsche.


Porsche's executive board member for sales and marketing, Detlev von Platen said the luxury carmaker was looking forward to its vehicles being assembled locally and reaching out to Malaysian customers next year.


Jeffri assured that every Porsche developed by Sime Darby will meet the same standards and processes as its European counterparts.


As at 4.41pm, Sime Darby's share price had increased 1.70% to RM2.39 with a market capitalization of RM16.19 billion.
