Covid-19 Special Assistance Phase 1 Will Be Implemented From 6 September

 The Minister of Finance, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz said that the payment of Phase 1 for the Covid-19 Special Assistance (BKC) will be implemented in stages starting September 6, 2021.


The measures will be initiated for B40 recipients as well as on September 9 for M40 recipients and BKC payments are scheduled for September, November and December 2021.


He added that the allocation involved a fund of RM3.1 billion and benefited 4.4 million households, 1.1 million senior citizens who are single or unmarried and 4.5 million single individuals.


"Overall, this assistance initiative will benefit almost 10 million households and senior citizens as well as singles with an allocation of RM4.6 billion," said Tengku Zafrul.



Apart from that, he said the Caring Networking Program has now been extended until September 30 which has been improved with an additional RM500 million under the PEMERKASA package.


Telecommunication companies will also offer additional benefits, especially additional free data worth RM1.5 billion.


Tengku Zafrul stated that confidence in digital transformation was based on the government's increased focus on strengthening and improving basic telecommunications which encompasses the education, employment and digital transformation sectors.


This implementation is expected to create a more inclusive digital society in driving business activities to increase Malaysia's opportunities to become a regional digital hub.
