Ransomware groups, Darkside and Blackmatter have recently taken steps to transfer millions of dollars worth of Bitcoin after receiving reports that their REvil servers have been taken over by a global coalition of law enforcement agencies.

Based on an authority report 107 BTC totaling $ 6.8 million were transferred earlier today by breaking it down into different wallets. The hackers had divided the BTC value into 7 different wallets and on the day when checked, these wallets were emptied.

Authorities on the other hand stated that they are confident that the fund is still being run by the Darkside and Blackmatter groups who are waiting for the right time to be converted to other value savings.

The funds were moved about six hours after Reuters reported that a global coalition of law enforcement agencies made up of several countries had successfully seized ownership of the REvil ranswomware collection server.

Darkside is a type of ransomware developed by Revil Associates that was used in an incident that paralyzed the operations of the Colonial Pipeline tear and gas company in May.

Tom Kellermann, an adviser to the U.S. Secret Service on Cybercrime Investigation and Head of VMware CyberSecurity strategy noted that authorities are reluctant to closely monitor such misconduct.

This report serves as a reminder to crypto activists to remain vigilant and take a cautious stance.
