Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd has formed a partnership with Netflix to offer its content into Astro.
Through Astro’s chief operating officer and chief executive officer, Euan Smith, the group is excited about the partnership with Netflix.
He added that the partnership will see the Netflix application will be included once in the Ultra Box to make it easier for customers to stream the content and followed by the Disney+ Hotstar application in the near future will make them the number one and best aggregator in streaming services in Malaysia.
Exciting new features on the Ultra Box allow customers to enjoy more of their favorite local shows and live sports from Astro and now includes all Netflix Originals, Netflix movies and documentaries. These exciting new additions come along with ongoing collaborations with Disney+ Hotstar, HBO GO, iQIYI and TVB Anywhere+ as well as with more streaming partners to be announced in the coming months.
Astro's share price plunged 2 sen to 95 sen bringing the total market capitalization to RM5 billion. The stock has declined since the end of June with a 20% drop from this year's peak of RM1.19 despite 11 ‘buy’ recommendations compared to 2 ‘hold’ calls and 1 ‘sell’ recommendation.
Astro remains attractive according to investment analysts as its high dividend yield exceeds 7%.
