 ‘Tea’ what time is Supermax?

The United Kingdom (UK) government has launched an investigation into one of the leading suppliers of personal protective equipment under the National Health Service (NHS), Supermax over allegations of the use of forced labor.

According to officials at the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS), an investigation into Supermax was underway in connection with a contract worth £ 316 million or RM1.78 billion for 88.5 million rubber gloves during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The investigation comes a month after U.S. Customs and Border Protection (US) detained imports of rubber gloves produced by Supermax on allegations of forced labor.

Citing a report from the Guardian, the UK government has begun their own investigation after Jeremy Purvis, a Liberal Democrat, demanded scrutiny from Supermax and acted to ensure products made using modern slavery were not used in Britain.

The report also stated that the results of the investigation could make Supermax banned from continuing to supply to the NHS.

So far Supermax has yet to respond to this issue.

This afternoon Supermax traded RM1.71 with a market value of RM4.65 billion and the counter was down 68.42%.
