The Exchange Remains Horizontal Momentum Today

 At 9.24am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 0.2 points at 1,522.47 from Wednesday's close of 1,522.27.


It opened horizontally due to lack of new catalysts.


The index opened 1.95 points at 1,520.32.


On the broader market, investors saw losers outnumber gainers by 260 to 198, while 325 counters were unchanged, 1,558 untraded and 44 suspended.


Total turnover at 359.7 million units worth RM173.45 million.



A note issued by Rakuten Trade stated that this horizontal trading pattern is expected to last until Thursday and sentiment may turn slightly positive due to the opening of travel routes for those who have been vaccinated between Malaysia and Singapore.


He added that they expect the index to be in a tight range between 1,520 and 1,530.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd and Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd gain 3 sen each at RM8.15 and RM8.37 respectively and Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd added 2 sen each at RM9.46 and RM5.67 respectively. while IHH Healthcare Bhd declined 4 sen to RM6.65 and Maxis Bhd fell 1 sen to RM4.58.


Active stocks saw G3 Global Bhd and D’nonce Technology Bhd rise 1 sen at 14.5 sen and 36 sen respectively, Fitters Diversified Bhd increased 0.5 sen at 51 sen and Ageson Bhd and Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd remained 5.5 sen and 32 sen respectively. NWP Holdings Bhd declined 1.5 sen to 30.5 sen and Dagang NeXchange Bhd declined 0.5 sen to 87.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 5.68 points to 11,198.83, the FBMT 100 index rose 5.79 points to 10,855.07, the FBM Emas Shariah index increased 3.01 points to 12,139.18 and the FBM ACE contracted 25.98 points to 6,725.33 while the FBM 70 jumped 24.93 points to 14,655.99.


The Industrial Products and Services index rose 0.43 points at 199.63, the Plantation index declined 4.35 points at 6,596.96 and the Financial Services index remained 16.77 points at 15,286.49.
