US President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping will reportedly hold a virtual meeting next week, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The meeting comes as relations between the world's two largest economies have improved in recent months, though they remain at loggerheads over Taiwan and Washington's concerns over Beijing's nuclear weapons.
However, the exact date of the summit has yet to be set, but it is expected to be held as soon as next week.
Meanwhile in a separate report, President Xi Jinping said that the country is ready to cooperate with America on regional and global issues provided, they respect each other.
Beijing used to use the term ‘mutual respect’ when calling for better relations with Washington.
Xi said in a letter addressed to the National Committee on US-China Relations, a New York-based non-profit body, that relations between the two countries were at a ‘critical crossroads’.
The two countries will benefit from working together, Xi Jinping said in the letter.
