Exchange Trading Sessions Open Lower Due To These Factors

 At 9.05am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 3.11 points at 1,491.75 from Monday's close of 1,494.86.


It opened lower following taking a weak Wall Street performance signal across the board driven by consumer sales and energy stocks.


The index opened 1.97 points at 1,492.89.


On the broader market, investors saw losers outnumber gainers by 195 to 97, while 165 counters were unchanged, 1,847 untraded and 20 suspended.


Total turnover at 107.64 million units worth RM63.57 million.


A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said there was profit -taking activity in the local market after a rebound on Monday as a result of negative sentiment on Wall Street.


He added that market players remained cautious ahead of meetings of the US Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan on rate hike decisions as well as monetary policy decisions.



Apart from that, market players are also focusing on technology stocks as well as recovery-themed sectors such as consumers as Covid-19 cases in Malaysia are declining.


The commodity market showed that the price of crude palm oil was at RM4,700 while the price of crude oil was at US $ 74 or RM313.20 per barrel.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd fall 2 sen each to RM8.16 and RM5.22, IHH Healthcare Bhd fell 6 sen to RM6.50 while Petronas Chemiclas Group Bhd rose 3 sen to RM8 .58 and Public Bank Bhd remained at RM4.


Active stocks saw Sapura Energy Bhd fall 0.5 sen to 4.5 sen and Opcom Holdings Bhd declined 1 sen to 92 sen while Malaysian Genomics Resource Center Bhd added 2.5 sen to 76.5 sen, Supermax Corp Bhd rose 3 sen to RM1.34 and AT Systematization Bhd remained flat. at 4.5 cents.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index declined 21.26 points at 10,868.03, the FBMT 100 index declined 20.86 points at 10,563.78 and the FBM Emas Shariah index fell 24.15 points at 11,701.17.


FBM 70 dropped 23.05 points at 13,976.87 and FBM ACE strengthened 18.05 points at 6,249.12.


The Products and Services Industry Index declined 0.10 points at 194.60, the Financial Services index fell 20.84 points at 15,200.69 and the Bud Plantation index 34.65 points at 6,494.44.
