This time it's not a joke, confirm you don't have to go back to the office.

Google -owned Alphabet Inc. has issued a statement on a deferral plan to return to work in the office in January as a result of the emergence of the Omicron variant as well as some resistance to vaccinations mandated by the company.

Last August Google had expected employees to come back to the office in about 3 days a week starting January 10 next year to end the work-from-home policy.

However, on Thursday Google executives had told employees that the company would postpone the deadline beyond that date.

Google has updated the plan in line with initial guidelines that returns to work will begin no earlier than January 10 and depend on current conditions.

According to Google data, nearly 40% of U.S. employees have come to the office in recent weeks with a higher percentage in other parts of the world.

According to records, hundreds of workers have objected to the company’s vaccination mandate for those working U.S. government contracts.

Meanwhile, Google was one of the first companies to ask its employees to work from home during a pandemic as it has about 85 offices in nearly 60 countries.
