Happy End of Week for Bursa Malaysia

 At 9.26am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) reached 0.60 points at 1,517.02 from Thursday's close of 1,516.42.


The index opened 0.22 points at 1,516.64.


It opened higher on continued buying interest in selected heavyweights.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outnumber losers by 192 to 157, while 240 counters were unchanged, 1,712 untraded and 15 suspended.


Total turnover at 233.47 million units worth RM100.2 million.


A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd stated that safe -buying activity is expected to continue and be supported by the KLCI in the near term.



He added that they expect investors to choose recovery -themed stocks such as the aviation and tourism sectors as well as the banking sector.


Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) heavyweights declined 3 sen to RM8.22 and Public Bank Bhd rose 1 sen to RM4.15 while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem), IHH Healthcare Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd remained at RM8.75, RM6.55 and RM5.36.


Active stocks saw SMTrack Bhd rise 2 sen at 13.5 sen while Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd and Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd remained at 26 sen and 23 sen while ATA IMS Bhd declined 0.5 sen at 71.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 7 points at 10,990.93, the FBMT 100 index added 4.16 points at 10,700.42 and the FBM Emas Shariah index rose 4.68 points at 11,791.72.


FBM 70 was up 5.12 points at 13,978.89 and FBM ACE added 10.22 points at 6,208.47.


The Products and Services Industry Index decreased 0.08 points at 197.76, the Financial Services index reached 6.49 points at 15,426.85 and the Plantation index drove 20.06 points at 6,502.18.
