Want a thousand power, don't want a thousand excuses right?
Meta Platforms Inc. formerly Facebook expressed their readiness to open its office in the United States (US) on January 31 next year while giving its employees the opportunity to defer their arrival for 3 to 5 months.
According to a statement from Meta, the social media giant has introduced a 'deferral program to the office' to ensure its employees have the flexibility to return to the office.
He added that it would stick to its original plan that employees who could work from home could apply to work from home full time.
Jenelle Gale, vice president of the company’s human resources division said they realize some of her employees are still not ready to return to the office and they offer them the option to choose which one is most suitable for them.
The Meta decision was made in the wake of many companies in the U.S. pushing for a return date to office due to concerns over the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Earlier, Alphabet Inc. had postponed plans to return to office in January globally regarding Omicron’s growing concerns and vaccination mandates by companies.
In the meantime, Meta will continue to monitor by scrutinizing Omicron variant trends as the company currently requires all of its employees in the U.S. to come to the office to be vaccinated.
