A recent study of some scientists found that two doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine were less effective at repelling the Omicron variant than the previous Covid-19 variant.

However, the researchers are optimistic that the booster dose could increase immunity to the new highly contagious variant. In a new study announced Monday, researchers from Oxford University tested blood samples for those who were more than 28 days after receiving a second dose, scientists reported a “significant drop” in neutral antibodies against Covid-19 compared to the immune response seen against the previous variant.

WHO. say the Covid omicron variant could alter the prospects of such pandemic transmission. The research paper also noted that some vaccine recipients "failed to neutralize the virus at all."

Thus, Gavin Screaton, head of Oxford University’s Division of Medical Sciences encouraged people offered booster doses to take it. On the other hand, Dr. Ofer Levy noted that there is no certainty as to whether an omicron -specific vaccine is needed or not.

A report published by the U.K. Health Safety Agency. on Friday estimated that two doses of Covid vaccine were less effective in preventing symptomatic disease through infection than the omicron versus delta variant. However, the report states that after a booster dose, the vaccine is thought to have 70 to 75% effectiveness in preventing symptomatic infection.

On that basis, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson warned British citizens that the country would speed up its booster program by offering a third dose by the end of the year.

Market players now continue to monitor the development of Omicron variants and take precautions.
