China is taking swift steps to combat the latest outbreak of the Covid-19 outbreak, by suspending production at more than a dozen of its companies in Zhejiang province.

The move follows an increase in Covid-19 cases recorded in Zhejiang, where a total of 173 cases of local infection were recorded in the one-week period ending December 12.

This indirectly triggered the first local contagion cluster of the year. In October, the province recorded only one local case.

Among the companies that announced the suspension of production over the weekend, included Ningbo Homelink Eco-Itech Co. Ltd., Zhejiang Zhongxin Fluoride Materials Co. Ltd., Zhejiang Jingsheng Mechanical & Electrical Co. Ltd. and Zhejiang Fenglong Electric Co. Ltd.

Plastic products maker Ningbo Homelink said it had to stop production to meet local authority demands and was taking steps to minimize the negative impact on its business.

Meanwhile Chinese ventilation system equipment developer, Zhejiang Jindun Fans Co., said production by its subsidiary in Shaoxing city has been suspended due to local government measures.

The company said there would be slight delays in product deliveries and affect business this month. However, the impact on annual revenue this year is limited.
