The Exchange Continues Profit Momentum Today

 At 9.10am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 1.09 points at 1,499.06 from Tuesday's close of 1,497.97.


It opened bullish after rebounding with the barometer index opening at the 1,500 level.


The index opened 2.6 points at 1500.57.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outnumber losers by 291 to 100, while 226 counters were unchanged, 1,670 untraded and 21 suspended.


Total turnover at 202.64 million units worth RM115.75 million.


A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd noted the overnight rally on Wall Street may spill over into the local bourse market as concerns over Omicron subside.


He added that the market is focusing on China's economic inflation data and the production price index which will be released on Thursday.



Heavyweights saw Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rise 6 sen at RM8.44 while IHH Healthcare Bhd, Sime Darby Plantation Bhd and Dialog Group Bhd added 3 sen at RM6.58, RM3.78 and RM2.52.


Genting Malayasia Bhd and MISC Bhd drove 4 sen at RM2.80 and RM6.50 respectively.


Active stocks saw Sapura Energy Bhd, MMAG Holdings Bhd and NMP Holdings Bhd remain at 5 sen, 9 sen and 24.5 sen.


G3 Blobal Bhd and Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd increased 0.5 sen at 14 sen and 29.5 sen, respectively.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 24.5 points at 10,933.19, the FBMT 100 index increased 20.28 points at 10,633.43 and the FBM Emas Shariah index rose 32.63 points at 11,807.46.


The FBM 70 jumped 76.79 points at 14,140.15 and the FBM ACE drove 42.65 points at 6,308.35.


The Products and Services Industry Index rose 0.51 points at 193.88, the Financial Services index added 15.62 points at 15,179.57 and the Plantation index rose 11.56 points at 6,437.46.
