The Exchange Recorded A Modest Profit In The Early Morning

 At 9.15am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 0.47 points at 1,494.50 from Wednesday's close of 1,494.03.


It opened on a positive note against Wall Street’s uptrend momentum but activity remained sluggish domestically.


The index opened 0.97 points at 1,493.06.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outnumber losers by 205 to 131, while 242 counters were unchanged, 1,719 untraded and 51 suspended.


Total turnover at 300.26 million units worth RM104.05 million.


A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd said sentiment remained cautiously optimistic as the market monitored the Omicron Covid-19 variant and the outcome of the US Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting next week.


He added that the domestic market is likely to continue to see cheap stock hunting and high -potential stock buying activities by the end of the year.



The commodity market showed that oil prices remained at US $ 75 or RM316.26 per barrel while the crude palm oil market showed a modest decline.


Heavyweights saw IHH Healthcare Bhd rise 4 sen at RM6.59 while Axiata Group Bhd, Dialog Group Bhd and Genting Bhd added 1 sen each at RM3.73, RM2.48 and RM4.50.


RHB Bank Bhd gained 5 sen at RM5.43 while Top Glove Corp Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem) and Sime Darby Plantation Bhd gained 2 sen each at RM2.46, RM8.45 and RM3.78.


Active stocks saw Sapura Energy Bhd and MMAG Holdings Bhd remain at 5.5 sen and 9.5 sen, respectively.


G3 Global Bhd declined 3 sen to 12 sen and ATA IMS Bhd declined 0.5 sen to 49 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 7.88 points at 10,908.05, the FBMT 100 index increased 8.71 points at 10,610.56 and the FBM Emas Shariah index rose 22.36 points at 11,786.44.


FBM 70 jumped 32.92 points at 14,147.49 and FBM ACE drove 1.13 points at 6,290.43.


The Products and Services Industry Index rose 0.41 points at 193.83, the Financial Services index fell 25.48 points at 15,140.91 and the Plantation index rose 4.02 points at 6,434.11.
