Is Elon Musk's idea really crazy, can Tesla cars play games? Did you have an accident?
As many as 580,000 units of Tesla cars that have been sold since 2017 will have to undergo an investigation by the United States (US) authorities following the decision of the vehicle maker to allow drivers to play video games on the touch screen of their cars.
The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has stated the need to conduct an initial assessment of Tesla Model 3, S, X and Y vehicles released from 2017 to 2022.
This is because the ‘Passenger Play’ function that allows Tesla drivers to play video games while driving can increase the risk of accidents.
According to the NHSTA, they have confirmed that the ‘Passenger Play’ function will be widely used in December 2020 which was previously only allowed to be used when the car was stopped.
The agency added that they would open an investigation paper following reports that the fungi could be seen from the driver's seat and could be used while driving.
This is not the first time a Tesla vehicle unit has had to undergo an assessment or investigation where previously some Tesla models have undergone an assessment due to the ‘autopilot’ function which poses an accident risk to the driver.
So far, Tesla has not given any further statement on the issue.
