The Stock Opened Higher On The First Day Of The Last Week Of 2021

 At 9.08am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) reached 0.67 points at 1,517.12 from Friday's close of 1,516.45.


The index opened 0.92 points at 1,517.37.


It opened higher on support for buying interest as well as concerns over Omicron's dwindling.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outnumber losers by 105 to 86, while 205 counters were unchanged, 1,914 untraded and 14 suspended.


Total turnover at 76.04 million units worth RM31.29 million.



A note issued by Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd expects buying support to continue this week amid concerns over Omicron variants declining and investors are expected to choose recovery -themed counters such as aviation and tourism.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) fall 3 sen to RM8.22 while Public Bank Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd (PetChem), IHH Healthcare Bhd and CIMB Group Holdings Bhd remained at RM4.12, RM8.77, RM6. 57 and RM5.36.


Active stocks saw Malaysian Genomics Resource Center Bhd add 7 sen to RM1.13 while Focus Dynamics Group Bhd, Kejuruteraan Asastera Bhd and SMTRACK Bhd remained 1 sen, 26 sen and 13.5 sen and Eduspec Holdings Bhd declined 0.5 sen at 1.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index rose 6.17 points at 11,001.68, the FBMT 100 index added 5.13 points at 10,706.84 and the FBM Emas Shariah index rose 11.72 points at 11,814.40.


FBM 70 was up 8.43 points at 14,011.84 and FBM ACE added 10.45 points at 6,250.57.


The Products and Services Industry Index added 0.14 points at 197.68, the Financial Services index declined 1.73 points at 15,420.89 and the Plantation index drove 0.79 points at 6,489.30.
