 Croatia's largest supermarket chain, Konzum's chain of chains will start accepting crypto payments in their online shop from today. Konzum, which is the first giant chain in Crotia, started accepting Bitcoin (BTC) and several other crypto assets as alternative payment options. With this, people and commerce can buy daily use items and 12,000 products using cryptocurrencies.


After taking this proactive step, Konzum is now planning to expand crypto payment options to physical retail stores. Konzum is confident that these crypto payments will operate as smoothly as card and cash payments.



Among the cryptocurrencies that can be used as a transaction medium are Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), EOS, DAI, XRP, Stellar Lumen (XLM), Tether (USDT) and USDC. Uros Kalinic, Financial Management and IT expert at Konzum said that 'the introduction of crypto payments is a clear indication that Konzum is always sensitive to global flows and at the same time is trying to respond to innovation and technological developments'.


To expedite this process, Konzum has collaborated with the domestic fintech company Electrocoin. Electrocoin has developed a new crypto payment system called PayCeck. The PayCeck system will also eliminate crypto volatility and will offer customers a fixed exchange rate at the time of payment.
