Oh no, Chinese smartphones have finally lost to Apple!
Apple Inc is currently the best -selling smartphone brand in China for the final quarter of 2021 since 2015.
Apple's iPhone 13 model has managed to beat other brands such as Vivo and Oppo when Huawei Technologies Co plunged to the bottom rankings.
Counterpoint Research reports that sales of Apple products in China increased 32% even as the overall domestic market shrank 9% due to issues of chip shortages and economic slowdown that constrained production and demand.
This dynamic shift in the Chinese market comes after U.S. sanctions on technology exports have crippled Huawei’s smartphone business.
As a result, the Chinese giant network had to divest its subsidiary Honor in 2020 which at that time topped the 5th place after Xiaomi Corp.
Add Counterpoint again, Apple’s stock market in China reached a record 23% in the last 3 months of 2021.
In general, global smartphone demand continues to be under pressure due to inflation, the economic downturn and a replacement cycle that is slowing sales while the problem of chip shortages adds to the disadvantages.
