AirAsia Group aims to become the largest food delivery and transportation company in Asia following the successful acquisition of online food delivery platform, DeliberEat.
According to AirAsia chief executive officer Tony Fernandes, the group is confident that its food service and Super App will become one of the largest food transport and delivery services in Asia.
He added that the group is planning to further expand their application to Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore and the Philippines.
Earlier this year, Fernandes announced the appointment of DeliverEat founder Tan Suan Sear as head of AirAsia's food group and Leong Shir Mein as head of requests for AirAsia's delivery arm, Teleport.
In a statement, Fernandes said they were very excited about the partnership as it would support the company's strategy to continue to serve the underserved and become the best delivery company in Asean.
He added that they are very impressed with DeliverEat in maintaining sustainability with its operations and offering a business and employment platform to the community.
Meanwhile, digital logistics company AirAsia Teleport has signed an agreement to acquire a 100% equity stake in DeliverEat for US $ 9.8 million to strengthen its delivery services.
