This case involving the Apple App Store is not the first time.

Apple Inc. has submitted plans to allow third-party payment systems in its App Store to comply with laws prohibiting major app store operators from forcing software developers to use payment systems.

The Korean Communications Commission (KCC) had previously asked Apple and Google-owned Alphabet to submit a compliance plan after the bill was passed in August and took effect in September.

Google also announced plans to allow alternative payment systems in South Korea in November in compliance with the amended Telecommunications Business Act.

In the meantime, Apple plans to discuss details with KCC that will allow an alternative payment system for a lower service fee than the current 30%commission.

Earlier, Apple faced a lawsuit by the creator of ‘Fortnite’, Epic Game in 2020 when the game maker tried to overcome Apple's 30% fee for in -app purchases by launching its own in -app payment system.
