It's like we're getting closer to the Metaverse.

Meta Platform Inc.’s research team is creating a new artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer that is believed to be the world’s fastest supercomputer and is expected to be ready by mid -2022.

The supercomputer, the AI Research SuperCluster (RSC), is said to be able to help it build an AI model capable of learning from trillions of examples by analyzing hundreds of languages, text, images and videos and determining whether the content displayed is suitable for viewing or harm.

A Meta spokesperson said the company has partnered with Nvidia Corp, Pure Storage Inc and Penguin Computing in building a supercomputer that is believed to be the fastest AI supercomputer currently.

This is Meta Platfrom’s step in realizing its future plans to build the Metaverse.

It is common knowledge that in October last year the social media giant had changed its name from Facebook to Meta to reflect its focus on Metaverse.

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg in his post on Facebook stated in building the Metaverse world, they needed a computer that could generate power of millions of operations per second and RSC was the answer.
