Bursa remains green today

 Bursa Malaysia continued its ‘green’ momentum with new buying interest as well as tracking Wall Street’s positive overnight performance.


At 9.10am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) climbed 8.96 points at 1,539.05 from Tuesday's close at 1,530.09, and the index opened 1.10 points at 1,531.19.


On the broader market, investors saw gainers outpacing losers by 221 to 128, while 235 counters were unchanged, 1,629 untraded and 10 suspended.

Total turnover at 211.81 million units worth RM147.71 million.


According to a note from Malacca Securities Sdn Bhd, the local bourse was in recovery but slightly slowed with gains limited by a lack of new local leads.


Meanwhile, the economy is also showing signs of recovery with the unemployment rate declining, 4.2% in December 2021.



The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DoSM) reported that there was an increase in total employment last December with a small increase of 0.2% month -on -month to 15.65 million people and the Industrial Production Index (IPI) jumped 5.8% last year.


Heavyweights saw Maybank and CIMB up 8 sen at RM8.43 and RM5.32, Press Metal advanced 9 sen at RM6.39, Petronas Chemicals remained at RM9.05 while IHH Healthcare declined 2 sen at RM6.48.


Active stocks saw AirAsia add 2 sen at 68 sen, DneX and SMTrack rose 0.5 sen at 98 sen and 19 sen and YTL power reached 7 sen at 67 sen.


On the index board, FBM ACE advanced 3.94 points at 6,251.55, FBM 70 was strong 44.09 points at 13,656.89, FBM Emas added 53.69 points at 11,083.12, FBMT 100 gained 55.14 points at 10,761.49 and FBM Emas Shariah reached 33.08 points at 11,779.61.


In terms of sector, the Financial Services index scored 121.56 points at 15,949.34, the Products and Services Industry index reached 1.1 points at 206.75 and the Plantation index bloomed 31.08 points at 6,649.66.
