Intel Corp has launched a new chipset specifically designed for Bitcoin (BTC) mining.
After listening to consumer complaints and demands, as well as taking into account the increasing popularity of the use of cryptocurrencies, Intel is seen wanting to join the race of other technology companies in producing special chipsets for cryptocurrency mining.
According to sources, the chipset will be marketed as early as this year and Square Inc, owned by Jack Dorsey will be the first user of the chipset.
Intel said the new chipset was specially designed to run any blockchain -related application with 'fast' and energy efficient.
More information on the chipset will be announced at the International State Circuits Conference on 20 February.
Roughly speaking, Intel is seen competing with Nvidia Corp which also produces a special chipset for Ethereum mining.
