Meta Platfrom Inc. (formerly Facebook) CEO Mark Zuckerberg unveiled plans for building a metaverse world with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI) projects.
According to a statement made by him during the ‘Inside the Lab’ program, Meta is currently working on an AI project to generate the world through speech, improve the way of conversation through voice assistants and translate between languages.
A summary of information from the Inside the Lab program is as follows:
Meta is working on a new generative AI model that allows people to take advantage of space in every aspect through voice control.
It demonstrates the model called the Boat Builder by featuring Zuckerberg as a 3D avatar who gives speech instructions to create beaches, add clouds, trees and equipment.
Next, it showcases the AI Project, CAIRaoke which allows people to speak more naturally through a voice assistant.
In demonstrating CAIRaoke, he showed a family cooking soup and using a voice assistant told to add salt to the dish.
In addition, Zuckerberg also announced that he is conducting a study on universal speech translation that aims to enable words to be translated into multiple languages, including translating writing.
Through these efforts, Mark Zukerberg hopes the metaverse will change the landscape of the way the world works, socializes and plays in turn into a replacement for the mobile internet.
Meanwhile, Meta AI project vice president Jerome Pesenti said they were exploring AI users to handle content and activities in the metaverse.
He added that Meta is planning a policy for activities in the metaverse.
