Vladimir Putin in a recent press conference stated that he and Russia "certainly" do not want a war in Europe but it must be present with a comprehensive proposal on the security of the Kremlin.
When asked about the prospects of war, Putin told reporters; “Do we want this or not? Of course not. That is why we put forward the necessary proposals for the negotiation process. ”
The statement came as the Russian military announced several troops in the Russian military district adjacent to Ukraine were returning to their bases after completing exercises. This is seen as a move that could reduce tensions between Moscow and Western countries.
Russia had previously amassed more than 100,000 troops near the Ukrainian border and sparked fears of aggression.
Boris Johnson said there were signs of "opening diplomatic relations" to resolve the Ukraine crisis, but there were "mixed signals" from Russia. He added that the intelligence results were still not fully encouraging with the addition of Russian field hospitals being built near Belarus's border with Ukraine.
This can also be interpreted as seed preparation for the occurrence of invasion, Johson said. Many parties hope that the resolution of the issue of relations between the two countries is through discussions with each other.
The market has reacted to this geopolitical issue with oil prices having climbed to their highest level in more than seven years and the strengthening of gold prices.
