Today Russia has launched a large -scale attack on Ukraine. According to U.S. officials and President Joe Biden this is an action chosen by Russian leader Vladimir Putin to carry out a war that will lead to many deaths. Ukraine's foreign minister called it a "full -scale invasion."
The Russian offensive began seconds after Putin said he had decided to conduct a special military operation aimed at pressuring the Ukrainians to cede their country to Russia.
A series of explosions and military attacks have been reported across Ukraine following the announcement of the attacks by Putin. In the capital Kyiv, emergency sirens began to sound and citizens were ordered to stay indoors.
This incident has received reactions from many parties, this Russian aggression has received widespread condemnation by governments around the world, especially from the west. Several western countries have increased economic sanctions on Moscow in response to the attack.
The latest NATO chose to go down the field. Reports say NATO is preparing to deploy more troops to eastern Europe. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization or NATO which is a politico-military alliance created during the Cold War is ready to play an important role in this.
According to NATO Secretary -General Jens Stoltenberg in a press conference in Brussels today stated “In the next few days and weeks… we will further increase our presence in the eastern part of the alliance,”. He further said, thousands of troops have been deployed to the East.
Stoltenberg said the Russian attack was not a surprise because it was an expectation that their intelligence had been expecting for months. Moscow "has never been serious about really getting involved in diplomatic efforts," he added.
Russia is currently carrying out massive attacks on Ukraine using its air, land and navy forces, Stoltenberg said. This geopolitical crisis is seen to be increasingly tense since the decision taken by Russia.
