Individuals who test positive for Covid-19 in Britain no longer need to quarantine themselves as Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce the repeal of the rule as part of a ‘living with Covid’ plan.
According to Downing Street officials, PM Johnson intends to repeal all Covid-19 rules restricting civil liberties in England when he unveils his plans on Monday.
The move will see self -quarantine rules repealed and the requirement to wear face masks dropped by the end of February. Currently, people who test positive for Covid have to quarantine for 10 days or a full five days after two negative results.
It would make England the second country in Europe to completely repeal coronavirus regulations after Denmark last week announced it was removing all sanctions measures including the isolation requirement for Covid cases.
Meanwhile in his speech on Sunday, PM Johnson said that the government is now formulating a long-term strategy to live with Covid-19 that will protect freedoms and avoid restrictions in the future by relying on medical advances.
