Oppss. This is not an airdrop introduced through a mobile device, the iPhone.

Crypto investors must be already aware of the presence of airdrop. These terms are often associated with project promotions and crypto coins.

Here's the airdrop trivia:

First introduced in 2017 by a banking service, OmiseGO developed in Ethereum.

Is a marketing strategy that then offers rewards or services based on the blockchain.

The method of giving tokens to participants, including those who have the potential to join the community.

The goal is to create awareness and invite more people to engage with crypto projects.

These activities can be identified either on the official website or forum of an organization that offers airdrop.

For example:

There is a company that wants to introduce a blockchain based project.

To more quickly reach the target users, the company launched a crypto token airdrop to make it easier for the project to be known to the public.

Through the token, the company offers utilities such as staking.

Other examples:

Binance introducing Binance Coin (BNB)

Filecoin which offers FIL

CowSwap in Gnosis Protocol which offers CowSwap native token, vCOW to GNO owners

OpenDao offering SOS as a reward to all non-fungible token (NFT) art creators and users of the OpenSea platform

Usually the delivery of airdrop occurs after the user:

Follow social media accounts be it Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or TikTok

Share or retweet one of the uploaded shares

Join a class, organization, or community

Create an account or sign up for the latest news

After that, only then will users or followers of an entity have the opportunity to join airdrop provided there must be a wallet first.

The most popular and fast wallet - Metamask.

Airdrop can also be done in NFT form.

There are four types of airdrops:

Standard airdrop - anyone can get involved by entering all the necessary information, including solving a few things like following a social media account

Exclusive airdrop - token giving for VIP users or loyal followers of the introduced crypto project

Bounty airdrop - similar to standard airdrop with the need to implement more promotional activities such as sharing crypto projects across social media platforms

Airdrop holder - Participants only need one type of crypto coin, for example: TRON (TRX) or USDT to get an airdrop token.

While airdrop is simply a free token giveaway (much like a scratch and win contest), users or participants need to be wary of scams that often occur.

Some parties take the opportunity to hold a pump and dump scheme to make a quick profit. Not only that, participants are at risk of being exposed to phishing attacks and marketing spam if project developers sell their data to irresponsible parties.

Importantly, if there is an airdrop activity that asks you for personal information such as: passwords, seed phrases or private keys, forget it!

Anyway, make sure you DYOR before engaging with any airdrop. Don't be so quick to be fooled by sweet and lucrative promises! That's all nonsense.
