Polkadot founder Gavin Wood has made a cryptocurrency contribution of more than $ 5 million in the DOT in an effort to support Ukraine’s rise against Russia.

Ukraine's vice president, Mykhailo Fedorov, expressed his appreciation for Wood via a Twitter tweet last night:

Crypto community continue to support Ukraine. I am grateful to @gavofyork, who made an impressive donation of $ 5M from @Polkadot $ DOT. This will certainly contribute to the Ukrainian victory as well as support civil people. We will win - the best people with us.

A total of 298,367 DOTs were transferred to Ukraine’s Polkadot address.

Based on the current value per unit of DOT at the time of this writing, $ 18.80, the cumulative amount Ukraine received was $ 5,611,429.46 (~ RM23.5 million).

Not only that, Fedorov also thanked the efforts of the Solana Foundation and Everstake for collaborating with the Ukrainian government to establish an autonomous decentralized organization (DAO), Aid For Ukraine to raise funds directly for public assistance.

Massive support from crypto projects @solana @SolanaFndn and @everstake_pool which set up a joint initiative @_AidForUkraine in collaboration with our @mintsyfra to raise funds for @Ukraine.#SOL address:

Fedorov had previously urged some of the world's major crypto exchange platforms to block access throughout Russia.

However, the request had to be rejected as it was deemed ‘unfair’ to the Russian population who were not involved in the war.
