The Stock Opened Red Over The Weekend Along Wall Street

 At 9.05am the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 6.65 points at 1,573.88 from Thursday's close of 1,580.53.


The index opened 5.39 points weak at 1,575.14.


It opened weaker during the start of trading after following yesterday’s negative Wall Street performance following investor sentiment which turned worried over the failure of Russia-Ukraine talks.


On the broader market, investors saw losers outpacing gainers by 198 to 108, while 173 counters were unchanged, 1,823 untraded and 14 suspended.


Total turnover at 89.42 million units worth RM65.39 million.


Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice president of equity research Thong Pak Leng said Wall Street was experiencing a significant decline.



He added that investor sentiment is likely to remain cautious amid rising market volatility, thus expecting the KLCI to be in the trend of 1,570 to 1,590 on Friday.


In addition, crude palm oil rose to RM7,700 while Brent crude oil declined to US $ 110 or RM461.12 per barrel.


Heavyweights saw Public Bank Bhd lose 3 sen at RM4.41, Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd fell 13 sen at RM6.42, Hong Leong Bank Bhd declined 18 sen at RM19.98 and Dialog Group Bhd fell 4 sen at RM2.17 while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rose 7 sen to RM9.69.


Active stocks saw Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd fall 4 sen at RM1.16, Capital A Bhd down 3 sen at 63 sen and Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) bud 5 sen at 99.5 sen while SMTrack Bhd added 0.5 sen at 10.5 sen and Pertama Digital Bhd remained flat. at 82.5 cents.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index declined 39.49 points at 11,128.49, the FBMT 100 index declined 39.28 points at 10,836.20, the FBM Emas Shariah index declined 30.48 points at 11,765.86, the FBM 70 declined 18.45 points at 13,006.67 and the FBM ACE declined 6.50 points at 5,227.55.


In terms of sectors, the Products and Services Industry index declined 1.98 points at 203.61, the Financial Services index declined 69.81 points at 16,276.57 and the Plantation index drove 8.01 points at 8,526.89.
