President Vladimir Putin said that sanctions imposed on Russia would revert back to the West and Moscow would solve its problems as well as emerge stronger.
He made the comments during a virtual meeting with government leaders on Thursday.
Referring to US sanctions on Russian oil imports, he said prices and inflation in the country were rising and leaders in Washington were trying to blame Moscow for their own mistakes.
He added that the Russian people should not compromise for short -term economic gain. Putin also acknowledged that the impact of the sanctions was being felt but he was confident his people would overcome it.
This indirectly portrays Western sanctions as self -defeating and convinces Russia that the country can survive an ‘economic war’.
In response to Western countries, the Russian government says it has restricted exports of telecom, medical, automotive, agricultural, electrical and technology equipment until the end of 2022.
In total, more than 200 items were included in the export suspension list, which also includes trains, containers, turbines and other items.
