What is the issue? European Union (EU) Expresses Dissatisfaction With China

The European Union (EU) has announced that it will not hesitate to put pressure on China if it does not remain neutral in taking a stand against Russia's recent invasion of Ukraine.

According to a report from CNBC, there are concerns among European officials about China's possible role in the war between Russia and Ukraine. Chinese authorities have so far refused to fully condemn Russia’s aggression on Ukraine by taking a neutral stance while voting for a UN Security Council resolution.

The United States, on the other hand, has shown a similar attitude and even accused Russia of asking China for military and economic support, both of which have been denied by the Kremlin and Beijing.

The same official said that EU-China economic relations and recent trade disputes may have been raised during discussions at the summit. It is therefore not surprising that some are of the view that the summit could determine EU-China relations.

Earlier there was a report of Estonian Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets telling that if China helped Russia in the Ukrainian invasion then Europe should discuss sanctions against Beijing as well.

EU relations with China have been turbulent in recent years. So it is not surprising that the EU has always differed from China.
