Canada Imposes Ban On Huawei & ZTE

When it comes to premium Chinese-made smartphones, the Huawei brand is definitely a temporary mention of ZTE's products, which focus on the mid-range segment, which has its own fans.

However, smartphone users in Canada may no longer be able to taste Huawei and ZTE devices because the government has imposed a ban (ban) on these companies.

The ban was imposed by Canadian Industry Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne, following concerns over the Chinese company's 5G phone network which is said to be ‘vulnerable to cyber security’.

In issuing a statement Champagne said action had been taken to protect the safety and well -being of Canadians.

This indirectly saw Canada join the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), Australia and New Zealand which banned Huawei and ZTE products based on an intelligence partnership called ‘Five Eyes’.

The intelligence found that the 5G products of the Chinese companies contained mechanisms to monitor and share confidential information, which were once used during the Cold War.

In response, Huawei Canada described the decision as a ‘frustrating political tool’ that has nothing to do with cybersecurity or technology.

In addition, the Chinese representative in Ottawa told the news that Beijing saw the decision made by Canada as ‘political manipulation’ that deliberately oppressed Chinese companies and would affect the economy of the Maple leaf country.

Meanwhile, ZTE described the action as speculative because they always adhere to international standards.
