A picture showing the chairman of a smart glasses company, EssilorLuxottica using a bracelet based on a neural interface has spread on social media sites.
The picture was uploaded by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Meta Platforms Inc, Mark Zuckerberg on his official Facebook page to tease his latest project that will be used in the metaverse.
Through a caption written by Zuckerberg on the photo, EssilorLuxottica chairman Leonardo Del Vecchio is showcasing a prototype of an EMG [electromyographic] neural interface bracelet that allows him to control smart glasses as well as other devices.
It is common knowledge that last October, Meta planned to develop a bracelet that would control virtual reality (VR) glasses, in addition to allowing users to interact with the virtual world using finger movements.
This is not something new because other technology companies such as Amazon.com Inc, Apple Inc and Alphabet Inc. Google have previously developed wearable tech businesses.
The idea behind the VR glasses developed was as a move that could replace mobile phones one day.
Turning to Meta, they have partnered with EssilorLuxottica in 2020 in developing VR glasses.
Among the latest, they sell frames like the classic Ray-Ban Wayfarer model that lets the wearer take pictures and listen to music as well as calls at a price tag starting at $ 299.
