The United States (US) Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) failed to confirm the identity of Bill Hinman in a video is William Hinman.

"After close research, the data available at this time is still not enough for the agency to approve or reject this application."

The video was clearly displayed and Hinman's voice was heard answering questions from the organizers of the 2018 Fintech Week Conference.

But the SEC declined to confirm whether the video was genuine or a statement from Hinman was indeed from the figure himself.

Although the video was uploaded by a professional; Georgetown law professor, Chris Bummer. Yet the man who resembles Hinman is accused by the SEC of being a mysterious individual.

For the record, Hinman is a former director of the SEC’s Finance Division of the Corporation which has been a hot spot following his statements regarding Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) in the program.

At the time Hinman was still serving with the SEC and claimed Ethereum was not a securities asset as the SEC alleged against XRP.

However in mid -April, the SEC denied Hinman's statement representing the entire agency.

But when the court rejected consideration of submitting documents and evidence of communications related to Hinman, the SEC abruptly acknowledged the former director's statement represented the entire agency.

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at $ 0.4 per unit, up more than 1% in 24 hours and 0.06% since last week.
