Turkey will block Finland and Sweden's membership in NATO until their attitude towards terrorist organizations changes.

As we have already said, the US stock market continues to fall, not least because of geopolitics. This weekend, it became known that Turkish President Recep Erdogan held telephone talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and Finnish President Sauli Niinisto. Erdogan said that his country supports the policy of "open doors", but cannot approve the accession of Sweden and Finland, guided by the security issues of Turkey itself. "If Finland and Sweden demonstrate solidarity with Turkey in the fight against terrorism, we will certainly approve their membership in NATO," Erdogan said. At this time, it is reported that Ankara wants to receive American fighters and other various weapons in exchange for approval of the application, as well as to lift US sanctions on the purchase of air defense systems in Russia. It also became known that the stumbling block is the issue of the two countries' support for the Kurdistan Workers' Party and the Syrian People's Self-Defense Forces, which are recognized as terrorist organizations in Turkey. Thus, by and large, international experts have already spoken about this. Ankara simply understands that the issue of the Scandinavian countries joining or not joining NATO now depends on it and is simply trading with NATO and the United States to get as many preferences for itself as possible. Therefore, it is only a matter of price. As we said earlier, any large organization is primarily in solidarity with other members of this organization. Now Turkey occupies the position of a huckster in the market.

Nevertheless, Turkey's position also has its rational grain. In particular, Erdogan's entourage said that the accession of Finland and Sweden to NATO at this time can only worsen the military conflict in Ukraine and expand the combat zone to other countries. Turkish politicians believe that the desire of the two Scandinavian countries to join the Alliance is now untimely and unjustified. The Anchor also said that a new geopolitical conflict could flare up in Finland if the country joins the military bloc. It is noteworthy that Ankara does not say why this may happen, although Moscow has repeatedly warned Helsinki about the inadmissibility of joining NATO and threatened a "military response." Therefore, Ankara is almost openly hinting that Russia may launch another "special operation" if the Scandinavians want to join NATO. It should be recalled that Finland has the longest land border with the Russian Federation, and NATO military bases can be located right on the border with the Russian Federation. Thus, Erdogan and his entourage are partly right, but at the same time, their position goes against the position of NATO, the United States, and the European Union. We believe that negotiations will continue and in the end, Turkey will retreat from its original position.
