‘Mas Joko Widodo has moved forward, Pak Long Mail cannot be left behind like this.’

The economic giant of Southeast Asia, Indonesia, wants to utilize its natural resources by 'spying' on electric vehicle (EV) giants to open factories there.

This was revealed by President Joko Widodo or affectionately known as Jokowi who stated that his government is actively holding discussions with Tesla, Ford and other EV companies to set up manufacturing facilities including vehicle factories in Indonesia.

Widodo commented after a meeting with Elon Musk last May, he suggested an offer for the millionaire to open a Tesla supply chain facility in Indonesia.

Apart from that, Jokowi also stated that Musk had sent his team to Indonesia 6 weeks ago to 'monitor the situation and check the potential of nickel' besides inviting the millionaire to the G-20 summit held in Bali.

As we know, Indonesia is rich in natural sources of tin, copper, nickel, cobalt and bauxite which are the main ingredients in making EV batteries.

Despite this, Jokowi has banned the export of major commodities for the purpose of stabilizing its domestic prices.

He explained that the effort was made to protect the added value of the commodity from being used only by foreign countries.

As a result, Jokowi has invited other EV companies to Indonesia to utilize the natural resource facilities together in an effort to make Indonesia a major global player of batteries and EV manufacturers.
