Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced additional military assistance of $ 74 million on Ukraine in response to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request.
A total of $ 67.8 million will be allocated as military aid to Kyiv, including 14 armored personnel carriers, 20 Bushmaster vehicles and other military equipment produced by the defense industry.
Australia will also allocate $ 5.9 million to help the Ukrainian Border Guard Service upgrade border management equipment, improve cybersecurity and increase border operations in the field.
The country will provide duty -free access for Ukrainian imports into Australia and intervene in the International Court of Justice to support Ukraine in its case against Russia.
This brings the total amount of Australian military aid to Ukraine to about $ 230.6 million, the prime minister said.
Meanwhile, Australia will also ban gold imports and blacklist some Russian ministers as expressing its support for Ukraine.
Australia has now introduced sanctions against 828 Russians and Belarusians, including the presidents of the two countries.
It also blocked 47 Russian entities, banned the export of weapons and components, raw materials and equipment to produce oil and gas as well as restricted imports of energy, weapons and ammunition from Moscow.
