Bursa Successfully Opens Higher From Yesterday's Sudden Fall

 The Bursa Malaysia trading session showed a slight surge this morning with the emergence of bargin-hunting activity after it closed below a severe 2-year low yesterday.


At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 2.44 points at 1,423.29 from Wednesday's close of 1,420.85.


The index opened 0.19 points strong at 1,421.04.


On the broader market, gainers at 98 outnumbered losers at 89, while 187 counters were unchanged, 1,850 untraded and 7 suspended.


Total turnover at 76.8 million units worth RM41.18 million.



Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of equity research, Thong Pak Leng in a note said bargin-hunting activity would emerge on banking stocks while plantation stocks are expected to remain declining with crude palm oil prices still declining.


That string, the KLCI is expected to hover in a trend between the range of 1,415 to 1,430.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) gain 3 sen at RM8.65, CIMB Group Holdings Bhd rose 3 sen at RM5.13, Public Bank Bhd, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd and IHH Healthcare Bhd remained at RM4.39, RM8. 65 and RM6.38 while Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) fell 2 sen to RM7.92 and Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd declined 1 sen to RM4.50.


Active stocks saw Datasonic Group Bhd add 1 sen at 45 sen, Matang Bhd and Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) remained at 9.5 sen and 75.5 sen, Seng Fong Holdings Bhd making its first appearance down 4 sen at 71 sen, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd down 4.5 sen. sen at 88 sen and Eduspec Holdings Bhd fell 0.5 sen at 1.5 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index collected 14.36 points at 10,118.91, the FBM Emas Shariah index added 13.35 points at 10,162.06, FBM 70 reached 7.82 points at 12,181.09, the FBMT 100 index drove 14.47 points at 9,876.91 and FBM ACE rose 4.33 points at 4,631.05.


In terms of sector, the Financial Services index expanded 16.09 points at 16,081.85, the Products and Services Industry index weakened 0.44 points at 175.04 and the Plantation index gained 34.77 points at 6,506.56.
