Maxis' Performance Fluctuates, Q2 Net Profit Drops 8.61%

 Telecommunications company (telco) Maxis Bhd recorded a profit report for the 2nd quarter, ending June 30 (2QFY22), down compared to a year ago due to depreciation and high amortization costs as well as prosperous taxes.


Looking at the published report, the company's net profit fell 8.61% at RM329 million from RM360 million a year ago.


Its earnings per share also fell 4.2 sen from 4.6 sen previously while revenue was seen to rise 6.6% at RM2.42 billion from 2.27 billion in the previous year, helped by the strengthening of its consumer and enterprise businesses.


Meanwhile, the company declared a 2nd interim dividend of 5 sen per share to be paid on 30 September 2022.



Meanwhile, for the first half of 2022, Maxis saw net profit drop 9.65% to RM627 million from RM694 million a year earlier while revenue increased 7% to RM4.83 billion from RM4.51 billion.


The biggest contribution to the increase came from the company's service revenue.


On a quarterly basis, the company's net profit rose 10.4% from RM298 million while revenue jumped slightly by 0.75% from RM2.41 billion.


Ulas Gokhan Ogut, Chief Executive Officer of Maxis, behind the note, the company's performance is quite strong across all segments which underlines its focus on strategy and agility.


He added that the company will continue to drive growth in a rapidly changing landscape and remain competitive.
