Several news channels reported on Thursday that UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is expected to announce his resignation.
According to the BBC, PM Johnson is ready to make an official statement in the next few hours.
Even so, he will reportedly remain the head of the Conservative Party until a new leader is elected this summer.
According to a separate report from Sky News, a Downing Street spokesman said Boris Johnson had spoken to 1992 Conservative BackBench Committee chairman Graham Brady, and agreed to step down.
The confirmation came shortly after newly -appointed Education Secretary Michelle Donelan resigned just 36 hours after taking over the role and new Finance Minister Nadhim Zahawi urged Boris Johnson to step down.
Earlier, it was reported that more than 40 of its MPs had resigned in a massive movement on Tuesday and Wednesday initiated by the resignations of Rishi Sunak and Sajid Javid from the posts of UK Finance Minister and Health Secretary.
