The Exchange Loses On The Opening Of The 2nd Day This Week

 Bursa Malaysia's trading session saw the loss of profits earned yesterday to open lower due to profit-taking activity after investors took signals of a less volatile trading session on the Wall Street market.


At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was down 3.85 points at 1,425.69 from Monday's close of 1,429.54.


The index opened 0.85 points weaker at 1,428.69.


On the broader market, losers at 183 outnumbered gainers at 72, while 188 counters were unchanged, 1,846 untraded and 8 suspended.


Total turnover at 164.3 million units worth RM54.05 million.



Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd's vice president of equity research, Thong Pak Leng in a note said Wall Street equities closed lower following a higher opening after cautious sentiment dominated the market.


Turning to the local bourse, the KLCI experienced buying activity yesterday and the index is expected to be at 1,420 to 1,435 today.


Heavyweights saw Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and Public Bank Bhd remain at RM8.58 and RM4.39, Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd rose 7 sen at RM8.29 and IHH Healthcare Bhd advanced 3 sen at RM6.45 while CIMB Group Holdings Bhd dropped 2 sen to RM5.07.


Active stocks saw MMAG Holdings Bhd, MAG Holdings Bhd and Dagang NeXchange Bhd (DNeX) fall 0.5 sen at 5 sen, 17.5 sen and 75 sen while Metronic Global Bhd and XOX Networks Bhd advanced 0.5 sen at 9 sen and 3 sen.


On the index board, the FBM Emas index decreased 28.74 points at 10,108.37, the FBM Emas Shariah index decreased 40.09 points at 10,184.45, FBM 70 weakened 45.18 points at 12,094.50, the FBMT 100 index contracted 29.04 points at 9,873.16 and the FBM ACE declined 33.42 points at 4,600.42.


In terms of sector, the Financial Services index declined 17.79 points at 15,995.83, the Energy index declined 0.05 points at 628.81 and the Plantation index declined 23.42 points at 6,752.51 but the Products and Services Industry index strengthened 0.09 points at 169.80.
