Bursa Malaysia's trading session today showed a surge to open slightly higher than yesterday as a result of moderate buying interest in the broader market.
At 9am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) was up 3.64 points at 1,441.16 from Monday's close of 1,437.52.
The index opened 4.35 points strong at 1,441.87.
On the broader market, gainers at 217 outpaced losers at 156, while 223 counters were unchanged, 1,633 untraded and 14 suspended.
Total turnover at 303.98 million units worth RM125.26 million.
Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice president of equity research, Thong Pak Leng in his note expects a number of selected aggregations to emerge with the benchmark index hovering within the current support level.
He added that the KLCI index is forecast to be in the range between 1,430-1,450 today.
Heavyweights saw CIMB Group Holdings Bhd rise 1 sen at RM5.04 and Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) added 5 sen at RM7.96 while Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) and IHH Healthcare remained at RM8.60 and RM6.43 respectively while Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd fell 2 sen to RM9.10 and Axiata Group Bhd fell 1 sen to RM2.72.
Orgabio Holdings Bhd, which made its first appearance in the ACE market, advanced 3 sen (9.68%) at 34 sen with 1.2 million units traded.
Active stocks saw AHB Holdings Bhd jump 0.5 sen at 13.5 sen, Metronic Global Bhd and Widad Group Bhd remained at 9.5 sen and 36.5 sen while Opcom Holdings Bhd was down 3.5 sen at 79.5 sen.
On the index board, the FBM Emas index expanded 29.85 points at 10,255.89, the FBM Emas Shariah index added 36.59 points at 10,390.36, FBM 70 drove 54.83 points at 12,348.86, the FBMT 100 index advanced 29.76 points at 10,003.72 and the FBM ACE declined 43.46 points at 4,673.99.
In terms of sector, the Financial Services index reached 21.77 points at 16,061.58, the Products and Services Industry index expanded 0.37 points at 180.57 and the Plantation index strengthened 42.88 points at 6,933.47.
